I guide and assist individuals to work through and explore the challenges of their human experience, which we all encounter.

MEET ME

I’m Carolina Pomilio – a narrative psychotherapist, mindfulness counsellor, relational & emotional skills coach, and a writer.

I had a multicultural upbringing between Argentina and Australia, and then went on to live in Malta and I am now living in Berlin, Germany. My experience as a life-long immigrant shapes all facets of my existence.

I  am trained in narrative psychotherapy from the University of Melbourne in Australia and registered with the Australian Counsellors Association (ACa) as an international member. I have also completed the two-year Mindfulness & Meditation Teaching Certification (MMTCP) with the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley under world-renowned mindfulness teachers and psychologists Dr. Tara Brach and Dr. Jack Kornfield.

I am a trauma-sensitive practitioner with over ten years of regular meditation and yoga practice, have completed diverse emotional intelligence and trauma trainings, as well as 10-day silent meditation retreats.

Before (and alongside) working in emotional and mental health, I worked for over fifteen years in creative communications,  international publishing, and journalism. The connecting thread between all my experiences is understanding people, their stories, and the human experience. You can read my journalistic, opinion, and reflective writing via my newsletter ‘Inner Explorations’.

Alongside my work in the international publishing sector, I have always volunteered and engaged in activism in Australia and Malta for various I/NGOs for diverse causes. What happens in the world around us has a significant impact on our mental, emotional, and/or spiritual health.

When I’m not working or studying you will find me cooking up a storm in the kitchen, with my nose in a book and coffee/loffee in hand, walking outdoors in nature, on my yoga mat, or jumping on my mini trampoline while listening to 90s pop music (loud and proud pop lover).

My approach

I help each person to learn more about themselves, change their emotional world, and form new mental and behavioural habits through an individualised approach of observing the mind & body as well as working with the mind and body.

I DO THIS BY COMBINING

1. Narrative psychotherapy

2. Mindfulness philosophy and meditation practices

3. Solution-focused & emotional/relational skills coaching

MY APPROACH ENSURES THAT EACH PERSON:

1. Learns about the deeper narratives that are guiding their lives and actions

2. Creates new neurological pathways to form new habits in the brain (the basis of neuroplasticity)

3. Is able to understand and integrate their experiences and feelings in the body

Why I do what I do

I spent four years in Malta working part-time as a national support worker for survivors of sexual violence, family violence, as well as other violent crimes as part of the national victim support unit.

I saw the enormous power of offering emotional safety and non-judgmental presence to facilitate my clients path to healing and recovery – qualities that I strive to offer every single person I work with today.

Over the years in this work I witness over and over, both for my clients and also within myself, the various ways that those who have experienced hardship are able to heal; and the hope and possibility that exists to change long-held responses, reactions, and habits – and ultimately change our experience of and the direction of our lives.

On my own healing journey I have also been deeply transformed by the power of neuroplasticity – that through wise effort and a lot of repetition we have the ability to integrate past experiences, create new habits, and change long-held narratives and behaviour which can ultimately transform the quality and direction of our life.

I deeply believe in the power of emotional healing, a dedicated mindfulness practice, and that every person has the ability to alter long-held beliefs and behavioural patterns.

However, I also acknowledge the different privileges that helped me on my path and that allow me to continue developing myself and committing to practice.

While suffering is a universal, human experience, I personally have not suffered in life from the following: visa & residency problems, access and funding for education, poverty, homelessness or fear of homelessness,  lack of family and community support.

My courses will always include people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

I reserve a set number of places for partial to full scholarships on all of my group coaching courses and 1-1 coaching programs.

If you would like to be notified when scholarships open please join my mailing list as I announce openings through my newsletter only.

While inner work and adopting a mindful approach to life can be immensely transformative, I will always strive to educate myself and investigate what is occurring socially that would impact the life of my clients.

I am very concerned with the trend of internalising all of our problems and offering mindfulness and therapy as the answer to everything, while turning a blind eye to the social, cultural, and/or political circumstances that could play a role in causing them.

I explore these topics further in my e-newsletter and blog.
